Polishing My Nails has turned into a JOKE...

{Image via Flickr}

I polished my nails last night.
I found 3 chips this morning after my shower.

What is the point of looking polished {nice pun huh?}
if it lasts for less than 12 hours?

Do you do your nails every week?
How long do they last?

I need your secrets...name brands and all.

Cuz, me taking the time to polish my nails
has turned into a joke.

I am almost sure I will get a comment from my Mom..
I have seen her nails unpolished less than 3
times in my life!!

HELP!

  1. Ok, I used to have the same problem, and it was so frustrating. Then a couple years ago I was getting my nails done and the girl pulled out this bottle that I'd never seen before, obviously I was like what is that??! OPI 'Chip Skip' has saved my life. I use it on my fingers and toes. It's the very first layer (before the base coat even). I also swear by a good quality polish. I'm not a polish snob but I do tend to favor OPI. Not that it's the best, but it's what I've found that I like. I don't know how this little miracle potion holds that polish on, but it does!! It's about $12 I think, and SO worth it!

    Let me know if you try it and what you think :)

  2. I always have my nails painted! I know how frustrating it can be when you find a chip within a few hours. Ugh! OPI and China Glaze are the longest lasting polishes in my book. The key is a good topcoat though, and believe it or not, the best topcoat I have found so far is Revlon's (the one with a white cap). I have tried many higher end topcoats, but I still rely on my Revlon topcoat. Also, one important step: after you apply your topcoat on the nail do one swipe of it over the tip of your nail (horizontally). Does that make sense? Lol. That will definitely help with tip chips!

  3. i agree, it's so frustrating. mine typically last 3-5 days. so a little better than 12 hours. my favorite top coat is Seche Vite. It dries super fast, highly recommended. http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?skuId=6051231&productId=prod6051231&navAction=push&navCount=1&categoryId=cat80070&CAGPSPN=pla

  5. It is all about the prep. You should always wipe your nails with nail polish remover before polishing....the oils on your nails will prevent sticking. And you need a base coat on. Try Seche Vite. Also do what Chelsea suggested by swiping the tip of each nail the opposite direction with topcoat.
    *Remember....I used to be a nail tech. :)

  8. I wish I could have polished nails...not allowed when you work in a hospital and care for patients. :(
